Mary's Bio

I enjoy helping programs design and implement effective management systems and high-quality services for children and families; and have had the honor of doing so for over 40 years.

My work with clients is based on:

  • Establishing Positive Professional Relationships

  • Identifying Strengths

  • Striving for Clarity

  • Generating Responsive and Creative Solutions

  • Partnering to Achieve Quality Results

As an Early Head Start (EHS) Start-Up Planner, I’ve helped numerous EHS programs implement services since it was first funded in 1994 – going from “paper to people” successfully.

With my associate, Charles Smith, I developed the “Secrets of Effective Supervision” and “Home Visiting Effectiveness” training programs. I helped develop the Infant Toddler Mental Health Graduate Certificate Program at Portland State University and served as a faculty member.  I am also a charter member and past president of the Oregon Infant Mental Health Association.

My areas of expertise include:

  • Program and Leadership Development, Program Evaluation

  • Strategic Planning

  • Staff Development, Reflective Supervision, Coaching

  • Child Development Services

  • Head Start Performance Standards

  • Retreat and Meeting Facilitation

  • Training and Public Speaking
